The Split Centerline By Measure tool is one of the centerline feature class editing tools available in Esri Roads and Highways. This tool is particularly useful if you know the measure value on a route for the location of the split. This tool splits that centerline into two contiguous parts on either side of the measure value of the route. Esri Roads and Highways also supports splitting a centerline at the location clicked on the map (see Splitting centerlines).
- In ArcMap, add the centerline and the network layers to the map.
- Start an edit session and zoom to the centerline that you want to split.
For more information on how to start an edit session, see About edit sessions.
- On the Roads And Highways Editing toolbar, click the Split Centerline By Measure button .
- Click a point on the centerline where you want it to split.
The route is highlighted in light green and a point appears at the location. The Split Centerline By Measure dialog box appears. The measure value at the location is 8.32 miles. You can change the measure value in the Measure field (around 8.36 miles).
The point now moves to the location where the measure value is 8.36 miles.
- Click OK.
The centerline is now split on both sides of the route's measure value of 8.36 miles.
