New at 10.8.1

ArcGIS Workflow Manager introduces a service-based architecture licensed through the ArcGIS Workflow Manager user type extension. This is an emerging implementation pattern that allows organizations to create web-based workflows with the new Workflow Manager web app and capability server. This pattern requires an additional deployment to the preexisting enterprise geodatabase implementation that is primarily used for desktop-based workflows. The two implementations are not compatible, so the preexisting implementation is denoted (Classic) in the documentation for reference purposes.

New at 10.8

The 10.8 release of ArcGIS Workflow Manager (Classic) includes updates to custom steps.

The following custom steps and custom step libraries have been renamed to better reflect the ArcGIS platforms they support, but their underlying logic and technical references (CLSID/ProgID) remain unchanged.

  • The JTXSteps library has been renamed to All Platforms and contains steps that can be run in ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Server.
  • The JTXDesktopSteps library has been renamed to ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop only and contains steps that can be run in ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and ArcCatalog.
  • The ArcGISProSteps library has been renamed to ArcGIS Pro only and contains steps that can only be run in ArcGIS Pro.
  • ArcGIS Desktop only is a new library that contains steps that can only be run in ArcMap and ArcCatalog.
  • The Open Map step has been renamed to Open Pro Project Items.
  • The Open Tasks step has been renamed to Import Task.
  • The Launch ArcMap step has been renamed to Import/Launch Mapping Items.
