Using 3D Analyst geoprocessing tools

About using 3D Analyst geoprocessing tools

You should always consider using a geoprocessing tool to accomplish a task rather than ArcObjects. Only turn to ArcObjects when there is not a tool that does what you need.
3D Analyst geoprocessing tools operate the same way as all other geoprocessing tools. They are called using the same conventions that are outlined in How to run a geoprocessing tool. Just make sure to check out a 3D Analyst license before calling one. For more information on checking out licenses, see Accessing licensing and extensions for the geoprocessor.
