The Understanding GIS project builds from one lesson to the next, so if you don't complete a lesson, you need to download the results for that lesson.
Lesson results represent the final state of maps and data for each lesson (not each exercise). They assume that the project data was in the correct state at the start of that lesson. In other words, if you don't do Lessons 1 and 2, you need to download the Lesson 1 results, then download the Lesson 2 results, to put the data into the correct state for Lesson 3.
Download lesson results
- Click a link below to download a zip file of lesson results.
- When the zip file is downloaded to your computer, right-click it and choose Extract All.
- In the Extraction Wizard, extract the files to C:\UGIS.
- Click Yes to overwrite existing files.

Repair broken data links
If you open a map document from the lesson results and see red exclamation points next to layer names in the Table of Contents, it means the layer can't find its source dataset on disk.
