Locking and unlocking elements

Lock Mode controls element locking. Access Lock Mode by right-clicking an element in the Layout window.

You cannot move or resize a locked element. A grouped element can contain locked and unlocked elements. If you move a grouped element, any locked elements in that group will not move.

1. Start ArcMap.
2. If necessary, click the Layout window button on the Production Cartography toolbar to display the Layout window.
3. Click to select an element.

   Select multiple elements by pressing the Shift or Ctrl key while clicking the elements.

4. Right-click the selected elements and click Lock Mode.

   The locked element's icon changes to include a red lock in the Layout window.

   Hinweis:

   To unlock an element, right-click the element in the Layout window and click Lock Mode.
