Getting Started

The ArcGIS for INSPIRE package includes the following setups:

  • Desktop extension — Enables the map and ArcGIS for INSPIRE services authoring
  • Server extension — Extends ArcGIS for Server by adding server capabilities for INSPIRE view, feature download, and predefined dataset download services
  • Geoportal Server — Enables INSPIRE metadata creation and sharing with INSPIRE discovery service
  • Geodatabase templates — Target geodatabase for INSPIRE dataset harmonization process

Installation Requirements and Guidelines

Determine if this is a new installation or an upgrade to an existing installation of ArcGIS for INSPIRE. If you are performing an upgrade, ArcGIS for INSPIRE requires both ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS for Server to be upgraded as well to function properly. There are two sequences to install ArcGIS for INSPIRE, depending on your circumstance.

Follow these steps if you are performing a new installation or an upgrade fromArcGIS for INSPIRE 10.2.1 or 10.2.2:

  1. Install ArcGIS 10.3.1 for Desktop.
  2. Install ArcGIS for Server
  3. Install ArcGIS for INSPIRE.
    • Install the Desktop Extension. For more information, see ArcGIS for INSPIRE Desktop Extension.
    • Install the ServerExtension. For more information, see ArcGIS for INSPIRE Server Extension.

If you have ArcGIS 10.1 and ArcGIS 10.1 for INSPIRE installed and plan to upgrade, refer to the migration guide (MigrationGuide_ArcGISForINSPIRE_10_3_En.pdf) for details. Generally, perform these steps:

  1. Prepare existing INSPIRE services and remove all brackets "[" and "]" in the INSPIRE service Advanced Property page because the brackets are no longer acceptable characters.
  2. Install ArcGIS 10.3.1 for Desktop.
  3. Install ArcGIS for INSPIRE.
    • Install the Desktop Extension. For more information, see ArcGIS for INSPIRE Desktop Extension.
    • Install the Server Extension. For more information, see ArcGIS for INSPIRE Server Extension.
  4. Upgrade existing INSPIRE services to work within the 10.2.1 environment.
  5. Install ArcGIS 10.3 for INSPIRE following the instructions for updgrading from version 10.2.1 to 10.3.
    Note:
If during the ArcGIS 10.2.1 for Server installation you change directory settings, the extension and services will not be migrated automatically. The service administrator will have to recreate and deploy the services again.
    Note:

During the ArcGIS for Server upgrade, the ArcGIS services output directions might be reassigned — for example, from c:\arcgisserver\directories\arcgisoutput\System to c:\arcgisserver\directories\arcgisforinspire\System. Check the setting and update if necessary after the upgrade.

If you have ArcGIS 10 and ArcGIS 1.0 for INSPIRE implementation, you need to uninstall version 1.0 and install version 10.3.

For Geoportal Server, the version included at 10.3 is based on Geoportal Server 1.2.5 with some INSPIRE specific updates, for details read the Release Notes 10.3 INSPIRE. The installation steps are the same for Geoportal Server 1.2.5. If it is a new installation, follow these steps:

  1. Access Geoportal Server 1.2.5 from the Download link.
  2. Set up the Geoportal Server database following the Geoportal Server installation guide.
  3. Deploy the INSPIRE geoportal.war file (included in the ArcGIS for INSPIRE package) and follow the Geoportal Server installation guide for configuration instructions.

If you already have an existing INSPIRE Geoportal Server instance installed and consider upgrading to the INSPIRE Geoportal Server from ArcGIS 10.2.2 for INSPIRE package, please read the upgrade overview, which provides a high-level view of considerations when doing a geoportal upgrade.

Installation guide documents, as well as acknowledgments to third parties, whose software has been used in permissible forms with ArcGIS for INSPIRE, are available in the respective component folders (for example, DesktopExt for ArcGIS for INSPIRE Desktop extension).

If you are performing a new installation, you can choose to install Annex I, Land Cover or Geology geodatabase templates, either separately or in combination. The geodatabase templates are available within the installation package. If you are considering upgrading an existing ArcGIS for INSPIRE geodatabase, please refer to ArcGIS 10.3 for INSPIRE Geodatabase Template Installation Guide for details.

Software Authorization

After instaling the software, you must authorize it for use. Log in to the Esri Customer Care portal (customers.esri.com) using your Esri Global Account credentials to obtain the authorization numbers. View the Installation Guide for more information.

Release Notes

The Release Notes 10.3 INSPIRE contain a list of features available with ArcGIS 10.3 for INSPIRE and current known issues within the product.
