Setting ArcGlobe to open with default online layers

Available with 3D Analyst license.

ArcGlobe allows you to consume ArcGIS Online layers as the default content. As the default for the application, the ArcGIS Online layers are the default layer experience you get the first time you open ArcGlobe. You can keep this default, choose to use other online source layers, customize further to use your own GIS layers, or select no default layers at all. Whatever you set as default layers are loaded every time you open ArcGlobe.

Since the online layers are live Internet layers, they require that you have an Internet connection.

  1. Click Customize and click ArcGlobe Options.
  2. Click the Default Layers tab.
  3. Check Use default online layers.
  4. Click OK.
  5. You must open a new ArcGlobe document to see your updated default layers. Click New New from the Standard toolbar.
