Symbolizing a point as a 3D simple marker

Available with 3D Analyst license.

You can use standard 3D shapes, such as a sphere or a cube, to symbolize a point as a 3D object inside ArcScene.

  1. Click the symbol, in the table of contents, of the point layer you want to modify.

This will open the Symbol Selector dialog box.

  2. Click Edit Symbol.
  3. Click the Type drop-down arrow and click 3D Simple Marker Symbol.Select symbol type from the Symbol Property Editor
  4. Click the Style drop-down arrow and click the shape you want to use.
  5. Optionally, click the Color drop-down arrow and click the color you want to use.
  6. Optionally, adjust the Quality slider for shapes with curved surfaces.
  7. Click OK on all dialog boxes.
Tip:
  • Use a higher quality level if you don't have many features to symbolize and a lower quality level if you have many features. Higher quality renders at the expense of performance.
