Adding the aviation scale bar

The Aviation Scale Bar tool creates a standard scale bar that can be customized.

Aviation scale bar example
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click View > Layout View.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Aviation Layout.
  4. Click the Aviation Scale Bar button Aeronautical Scale Bar on the Aviation Layout toolbar.

A scale bar appears. By default, the scale bar represents the current focus map scale if it is not zero.

    Note:

The scale bar is not dynamically linked to the data frame properties; scale changes do not automatically update the scale bar element.
