Converting feature builder geometries to features

Available with Production Mapping license.

Feature Builder scratch features can be converted to new features in your target database using the Create Target Feature(s) tool.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
  3. On the menu bar, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Feature Builder.
  4. Click the Feature Builder button Feature Builder on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

    The Feature Builder window appears.

    Tip:

The Feature Builder window can be placed anywhere in ArcMap, or in the Table Of Contents window, with the aid of the arrows showing the possible placement positions.

  5. Click the Production Start Editing button Production Start Editing on the Production Editing toolbar.

    Note:

The Manage Features and Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes windows automatically appear when you start an edit session using the Production Start Editing tool.

    Tip:

If the Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes window does not appear when you start an edit session, click the Show/Hide Attributes button Show/Hide Attributes on the Manage Features window.

  6. You are prompted to choose the workspace you want to use for editing.

  7. Choose the database that contains the feature class to which you want to add features.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Select one or more scratch features in the map.
  10. Ensure that the feature class and/or subtype you want to use is selected on the Create tab of the Manage Features window.

This layer must have the same geometry as the selected feature builder geometry or geometries.

  11. Click the Create Target Feature(s) button Create Target Feature(s) on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

New features are created based on the feature class/subtype you selected.
