Editing the mercator scale bar

The mercator scale bar has a number of specialized properties that can be altered from the Scale and Trapezoidal tab on the Mercator Scale Bar <#> Properties dialog box.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click View > Layout View.
  3. Right-click the mercator scale bar and click Properties.

    The Mercator Scale Bar <#> Properties dialog box appears.

    Note:

    A number displays in the dialog box to identify specific scale bars if multiple scale bars are present in the document.

  4. Click the Scale and Trapezoidal tab.
  5. Modify the scale and trapezoidal information as necessary.
  6. Click the Size and Position tab.
  7. Modify the size and position information as necessary.

    Tip:

    You can also resize the element in the page layout.

  8. Click the Area tab.
  9. Modify the unit of measure information as necessary.
  10. Click Apply to commit the edits.
  11. Click OK to close the dialog box.
