Importing AIXM data using geoprocessing

Available with Advanced license.

This tool requires the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension for Desktop .

The Import AIXM 4.5 To AIS geoprocessing tool supports the most robust AIXM 4.5 data available. It is based on the rules and relationships set by the AICM/AIXM 4.5 standards. The tool allows you to populate and maintain your database through digesting AIXM 4.5 XML snapshot and update messages.

Tip:

The Import AIXM process can consume a lot of memory. Contact Esri If you experience difficulties importing large files (200 MB or more) using the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension for Desktop .

Tip:

The tool can be customized. Right-click the tool to open the context menu and click Edit to open the tool in a Data Interoperability workbench window.

  1. Start ArcMap or ArcCatalog.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Extensions and make sure that the Data Interoperability extension is checked.
  3. Make sure that an appropriate enterprise geodatabase is available.
  4. Click the ArcToolbox button ArcToolbox on the Standard toolbar.

    The ArcToolbox window appears.

  5. Expand the tree view next to Aviation Data Management Tools > AIXM.
  6. Double-click the Import AIS 4.5 To AIS tool.

    The Import AIS 4.5 To AIS dialog box appears.

  7. Click the Source AIXM Dataset browse button and navigate to the AIXM-XML data.
  8. Click Open.
  9. Click the Attribute Schema Mapper browse button and navigate to <Install location>\Program Files\ArcGIS\AviationCharting\Desktop10.3\DataExchange\AIXM\SchemaMapper\AIXMtoESRI_Attribute.csv.
  10. Click Open.
  11. Click the Subtype Schema Mapper browse button and navigate to <Install location>\Program Files\ArcGIS\AviationCharting\Desktop10.1\DataExchange\AIXM\SchemaMapper\AIXMtoESRI_Subtype.csv.
  12. Click Open.
  13. Type the name of the of the destination enterprise geodatabase in the Destination Enterprise Geodatabase text box.
  14. Type the name of the geodatabase server in the Server text box.
  15. Type the port or instance number in the Instance text box.
  16. Type the user name in the Username text box.
  17. Type the password in the Password text box.
  18. Type the name of the geodatabase version in the Version text box.
  19. Click the Destination Coordinate System browse button and navigate to the coordinate system of the data you are importing.
  20. Click OK.
