Stripping z- and m-values from shapefiles

The Strip Zs And Ms tool removes z- and m-values from 3D shapefiles with or without measures.

  1. Start ArcCatalog.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Defense Mapping.
  3. On the Defense Mapping toolbar, click Defense Mapping > Strip Zs And Ms.

The Select Shapefiles to Strip dialog box appears.

  4. Select the shapefiles you want to strip the 3D values from.
  5. Click Add.

The Browse for output folder dialog box appears.

  6. Navigate to a folder to export the new shapefile to.
  7. Click OK.

The Strip Zs And Ms dialog box appears informing you of the total number of shapefiles processed.

  8. Click OK.

If there is a name conflict in the folder for the new shapefile, a numeric value is added to the end of the shapefile name.
