Ancillary data sources

There are three sources that should be referenced when completing a DNC library:

  1. NGA List of Lights
  2. USCG Light List
  3. Notice to Mariners
These ancillary data sources have updates to chart information that should be included in the delivery.

Two references used for DNC production are the NGA List of Lights and the USCG Light List. These data sources contain the latest light, beacon, and buoy information for navigable waters. The NGA List of Lights has world coverage, while the USCG Light List covers only the United States and its territories. The datasets can be queried on these Web sites:

  • NGA List of Lights—http://msi.nga.mil/NGAPortal/MSI.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=msi_portal_page_61
  • USCG Light List—http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=lightLists

Notice to Mariners (NTM) list changes to apply to a nautical chart. You can use the NTM Parser and Notice to Mariners tools to manage these changes.
