Editing light sector arcs and segments

The Edit Light Sector tool enables functionality specifically for editing marine light arcs and segments in the LightSectorsL feature class. It dynamically expands or contracts light arcs and segments without affecting light sector angles.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Note:

To use the Edit Light Sector tool, you need to have created Light Sector features using the Generate Light Sectors tool, your data frame needs to be in a projected coordinate system, and you must be in the data view.

  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
  4. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Nautical Editing Cartography.
  5. Click the Production Start Editing button Production Start Editing on the Production Editing toolbar.

    Note:

The Manage Features and Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes windows automatically appear when you start an edit session using the Production Start Editing tool.

    Tip:

If the Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes window does not appear when you start an edit session, click the Show/Hide Attributes button Show/Hide Attributes on the Manage Features window.

  6. Click the Edit Light Sector buttonEdit Light Sector on the Nautical Editing Cartography toolbar.

    Tip:

The tool is active on the toolbar when the LightSectorsL feature layer is in the edit workspace.

  7. Click the arcs or segments you want to move.

    Tip:

Press the Shift key while clicking to select additional features.

  8. Drag the feature or features to the new location.

Your marine light arcs and segments are updated without affecting light sector angles.
