Getting changes from the NIS

Edits made on the Nautical Information System (NIS) database are packaged in a data change message when you update the product using Get Changes. Once you have created the data change message, you can apply those changes to your product using the Apply Changes tool.

When Get Changes is run on a charting product with multiple panels, each panel will have a data change message generated. However, you must run Apply Changes individually for each chart panel since you may only edit one chart panel at a time.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Navigate to the product that you want to update in the Product Library window.
  3. Right-click the product in the Product Library tree view and click Get Changes.

The file geodatabase data change message that will be applied to your production database is generated. This file is stored in the product library and is automatically referenced when you use the Apply Changes command.

    Note:

The Get Changes process generates a log file behind the scenes. On Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, log files are written to <Installation location>\Users\<UserLogin>\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Production10.3.1\Desktop\Maritime Charting\LogFiles\Get Changes.
