Removing duplicate notes

The Remove Duplicate Notes tool removes multiple occurrences of the same DNC note to reduce the size of the geodatabase. Although the DNC product specification allows duplicated records in a theme's notes.rat table, the output Vector Product Format database must be made as compact as possible.

Note:

Run this tool from ArcCatalog only when the notes data is not loaded in ArcMap.

  1. Start ArcCatalog.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Extensions and verify that all applicable extensions are checked.

You need Production Mapping and Maritime Charting.

  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Nautical DNC.
  4. Click the geodatabase that contains the duplicate notes you want to remove.
  5. Click the Remove Duplicate Notes button Remove Duplicate Notes on the Nautical DNC toolbar.

A progress bar appears and displays the operation's progress. The progress bar closes when the operation finishes.
