Exporting a schematic diagram into an XML document

Any schematic diagram, even though it is stored in a pre-10 schematic dataset, can be exported into an XML document.

  1. Start ArcCatalog.
  2. Right-click the schematic diagram you want to export in the Catalog tree.
  3. Click Export To XML Document.

The Save As dialog box opens.

  4. Browse to and select the folder in which you want an XML file to be created corresponding to your schematic diagram.
  5. Type a name for the XML document.
  6. Click Save.

The exported XML document is based on the XMLBuilderDiagram XML schema definition file. The resulting file can be used as an input file to generate a new schematic diagram based on an XML builder diagram template.
