Locking/Unlocking a schematic diagram

Even if an editing session can be started on a schematic diagram that is locked, you will not be able to save the edits. In that case, you must cancel the editing session by closing the editing session and use the Catalog window to unlock the diagram before starting the editing session on that diagram again.

The Catalog window can also be used to lock a schematic diagram. When schematic diagrams are intentionally locked, the Update Diagram command cannot operate on them.

  1. Start ArcCatalog.
  2. Expand the schematic dataset that contains the schematic diagram you want to lock/unlock in the Catalog tree.
  3. Right-click the schematic diagram in the Catalog window.
    • If the schematic diagram is locked, the Lock/Unlock Diagram menu item is displayed with a check mark. Click the Lock/Unlock Diagram item to unlock it.
    • If the schematic diagram is unlocked, no check mark is displayed next to the Lock/Unlock Diagram menu item. Click the Lock/Unlock Diagram item to lock it.
