Viewing a task assistant workflow in the Catalog window

Task assistant workflows can be viewed by using the Item Description command on the Catalog window in ArcMap.

Viewing task assistant workflows allows you to view information about a workflow without opening it in the Task Assistant window. For example, you can view the hierarchy of the steps and quickly hover over them to ensure they have descriptions.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Click the Catalog button Catalog on the Standard toolbar to open the Catalog window.
  3. Browse to the task assistant workflow you want to view in the Catalog tree view, right-click the workflow file, and click Item Description.

The Item Description dialog box appears.

  4. Click the Preview tab.
  5. Click the Close button Close on the Item Description dialog box once you are finished viewing the workflow.
