Task assistant workflows can be viewed by using the Item Description command on the Catalog window in ArcMap.
Viewing task assistant workflows allows you to view information about a workflow without opening it in the Task Assistant window. For example, you can view the hierarchy of the steps and quickly hover over them to ensure they have descriptions.
- Start ArcMap.

Click the Catalog
button
on the Standard toolbar to open the Catalog window.
- Browse to the task assistant workflow you want to view in the Catalog tree view, right-click the workflow file, and click Item Description.
The Item Description dialog box appears.
- Click the Preview tab.

Click the Close button
on the Item Description dialog box once you are finished viewing the workflow.
