Adding a real-time tracking service to a map

Prerequisite:

Before you can add real-time tracking services to your map, you must first establish a connection to Tracking Server.

Learn how to establish a connection to Tracking Server

  1. Click the Add Data button Add Data on the Standard toolbar to open the Add Data dialog box.
  2. Click Tracking Connections in the Look in drop-down menu.
  3. Locate the name of the tracking connection that you want to add a service from and double-click it.

If no connections appear, you must first establish a connection to Tracking Server.

  4. A list of the available tracking services through the tracking connection you selected appears. Click the name of the tracking service you want to add to your map and click the Add button.

Notice that a tracking layer with the same name as the tracking service has been added to your map and appears in the Table of Contents. Data automatically begins streaming in, and you can now use the full capabilities of Tracking Analyst with your real-time tracking layer.

    Tip:

When your real-time data begins streaming in, you may not be zoomed to the correct part of the map to see it. Right-click your tracking layer in the Table of Contents and click Zoom To Layer to quickly locate your data.

Tip:
You might want to use the Display Future Events setting to make sure that all real-time data received from Tracking Server is included in your tracking layer.
