As a geodatabase administrator, you can change a setting in the geodatabase to prevent new connections to the geodatabase. Existing connections remain.
You might block new connections to an enterprise, workgroup, or desktop geodatabase before certain maintenance operations such as compressing, upgrading, or making a full backup of the geodatabase.
In ArcGIS for Desktop, create a database
connection to your geodatabase.
You must connect as the geodatabase administrator.
- Right-click the database connection in the Catalog tree and click Properties.
- Click the Connections tab.
- Uncheck Geodatabase is accepting connections.
No new connections can be made to the geodatabase. Existing connections remain active.
If you also need to remove any existing connections, see Manage connections to Oracle.
