Exporting a mosaic dataset to a raster dataset

If you want to create a mosaicked raster dataset from the mosaic dataset, you can use the Copy Raster tool or you can export the Image sublayer in ArcMap to a raster dataset (as described in the steps below).

To access the Copy Raster tool, you can open it directly, or in ArcCatalog or the Catalog window, right-click a mosaic dataset and click Export > Raster To Different Format.

  1. In ArcMap, expand the mosaic layer.
  2. Right-click the Image layer and click Export Data.

The Export Mosaic Dataset Data dialog box opens.

  3. Choose values for Extent and Spatial Reference for the raster dataset.
  4. Choose the rendering and cell size parameters for the raster dataset.
  5. Choose the output name, location, and format properties.
  6. Click Save.

    The raster dataset is created.
