Saving a raster layer file in ArcMap, ArcScene, or ArcGlobe

Layer files define how your data is displayed. When you alter the display properties on the layer's Properties dialog box, you can adjust many different properties, such as the symbology, and some display properties, such as resampling and transparency, the visible extent, or the visible scale. By saving the layer files, you can preserve the setting you made.

  1. Right-click the layer or grouped layer file in the table of contents.
  2. Click Save As Layer File.
  3. Navigate to the folder in which you want to save the layer.
  4. Type a name for the layer file.
  5. Click Save.
