Setting the selection and highlight color for tables

The ability to select and highlight records in a table is an important part of working with ArcGIS. Numerous functions, like exporting data, converting data, panning, zooming, and using a geoprocessing tool, can use selection sets as input. The ability to highlight records in the Selected view of the attribute table allows you to work with subsets of your selected records.

1. To set the default selection and highlight color for all tables, click the Customize menu, click ArcMap Options, then click the Tables tab.

To set the selection and highlight color for an individual table, click the Table Options button on the Table window and click Appearance.

2. Click the Selection Color arrow and click the color you want to use.
3. Click the Highlight Color arrow and click the color you want to use.
4. Click OK.

   A new layer is added to the map.

Note:

Settings applied to the ArcMap Options dialog box accessed from the Customize menu will apply to all tables you work with in all ArcGIS for Desktop applications. Changing this setting here applies to new tables you open, not to tables you have already opened. To change the settings for a table you have already opened, choose the Appearance command in the ArcMap Options menu in the Table window.

Note:

Settings applied from the Appearance command in the ArcMap Options menu on the Table window will apply to the current table you are working with.
