Displaying TIN contours with the same symbol

Available with 3D Analyst license.

In ArcMap and ArcScene, you can display triangulated irregular network (TIN) surfaces with contour lines of elevation.

  1. Right-click the TIN layer in the table of contents and choose Properties.
  2. Click the Symbology tab.
  3. Uncheck Elevation (or any other TIN face renderer that is checked).
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click Contour with the same symbol.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Dismiss.
  8. From the Symbology tab, optionally select the reference contour height, contour interval, and Index contour factor for the contour lines.
  9. From the Symbology tab, optionally select the contour symbol, and index contour symbol to use to symbolize the contour lines.
  10. Click OK.
  11. The TIN is symbolized with contour lines indicating elevation change. The colors used to generate the contours are based on the contour symbol and index contour symbol selected.
