Editing a topology

Available with Standard or Advanced license.

ArcMap contains a number of advanced tools and functions for managing and editing a topology. Here is the general topology editing process:

  1. Start ArcMap and add map layers for the feature classes in your topology that you want to edit. Also, add the topology you want to edit.
  2. Start editing.
  3. Add the Topology toolbar to ArcMap by clicking Customize, pointing to Toolbars, and clicking Topology.
  4. Perform your edits and save them.
  5. Validate the topology.
  6. Review the errors in the Error Inspector window and repair any topology errors. Then, validate and save your edits.
