Adding the Tablet toolbar

The tools and commands on the Tablet toolbar let you add digital ink on top of your map and store this ink inside the map document or in a geodatabase.

The Tablet toolbar is designed for use with a Tablet PC, although the Tablet toolbar can be used on any computer running ArcGIS for Desktop. However, text recognition is only available when using a Tablet PC (or a Windows Vista or Windows 7 machine where Tablet PC functionality has been enabled with the attachment of an external pen pad).

Before working with Tablet PC tools within ArcMap, you must add the Tablet toolbar. Tools and commands on this toolbar let you create ink on your map and store it in the graphic layer of the map document or a geodatabase annotation feature class.

  1. Click Customize, point to Toolbars, then click Tablet.

The Tablet toolbar appears in the map.
