The simplest way to create an animation that moves through an environment in ArcScene, ArcGlobe, or ArcMap is to create a camera or map view track (ArcMap) by capturing perspective views with the Capture View button 
. By clicking Capture View, the current camera view (ArcScene and ArcGlobe) or the current map extent (ArcMap) is captured. Each time a view is captured, a keyframe is created in a track. While navigating through the scene, globe, or map, you can capture different views into keyframes, which get stored in a camera or map view track. The resulting track will be an interpolation between the keyframes, making a smooth animation. For example, you can create a track that rotates your scene or globe, zooming in and out to points of interest along the way, or you can zoom in on a map and pan to a particular location.
Capturing the view as map view or camera keyframes
Listed below are the steps you can follow to create an animation that allows you to change the map view or move through the scene in ArcGlobe or ArcScene.
- If the Animation toolbar is not present in your application, click Customize on the main menu of the application, point to Toolbars, then click Animation.
- Navigate to the perspective you want to capture.
- Click the Capture View button on the Animation toolbar.
The view of the camera (ArcScene or ArcGlobe) or the extent of the map (ArcMap) is captured.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to capture more views as keyframes in a map view track in ArcMap or a camera track in ArcScene or ArcGlobe.
- Click the Open Animation Controls button
on the Animation toolbar.
- Click the Play button
to view the animation in the display.
