Adding a reference grid

The following are the steps you can take to add a reference to your map layout using Grids and Graticules Wizard. For more information on Grids and Graticules Wizard, see A quick tour of the Grids and Graticules Wizard.

  1. Click View > Data Frame Properties.
  2. Click the Grids tab.
  3. Click the New Grid button.
  4. Click the Reference Grid option in Grids and Graticules Wizard.
  5. Type a name for the resulting grid.
  6. This name will appear in the list of grids on the Data Frame Properties dialog box.

  7. Follow the steps in the wizard and click Next as you complete each panel.
  8. Click Finish.
Tip:
ArcMap may be configured not to show wizards. If this is the case, you can enable Grids and Graticules Wizard. Click Customize > ArcMap Options, click the General tab, then check the Wizard Mode option.
