Esri Defense Mapping geoprocessing tools have two general purposes:
- Support the creation and maintenance of cartographic products.
- Support data migration between different Defense Mapping data models.
Cartographic products adhere to Defense Mapping product specifications. Products must contain predefined symbology and layout (surround) elements.Defense Mapping geoprocessing tools allow you to create data for these surround elements and manage representation overrides for certain symbols.
Defense Mapping data models also adhere to product specifications through feature coding and metadata.Defense Mapping geoprocessing tools import, export, and transform metadata between data models. Other tools export data with feature codes or calculate default values to make data comply with a product specification.
The Cartography toolset provides functionality that creates cartographic data for use in Esri Defense Mapping products.
The Data Management toolset contains toolsets for importing, exporting, and managing edits to your data.
The Hypsography toolset contains other toolsets that allow you to manage contours and spot heights in Esri Defense Mapping products.
The Utilities toolset contains tools leveraged by other tools—such as the Create Rapid Graphic tool—in the Esri Defense Mapping toolbox.
