Displaying terrain faces by elevation

Available with 3D Analyst license.

In ArcMap and ArcGlobe you can display faces of a terrain dataset indicating elevation. These steps describe how to display terrain dataset faces by elevation.

  1. In the table of contents, right-click the terrain layer and select Properties.
  2. Click the Symbology tab.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Click Face elevation with graduated color ramp.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Dismiss.
  7. Optionally, click the Color Ramp drop-down arrow and click a new color ramp.
  8. Optionally, click the Classes drop-down arrow and choose the number of classes.
  9. Click OK.
  10. The terrain faces are rendered with colors to indicating elevation.

Note:
You can also display the terrain faces with the same symbol by selecting the Faces with the same symbol symbology renderer instead of the Face elevation with graduated color ramp symbology renderer.
