Creating a layer file in the disconnected cache folder using ArcGlobe

Available with 3D Analyst license.

Follow the steps below to enable the direct use of a cache as an ArcGlobe layer. If the file is missing or corrupted it can be re-created using ArcGlobe.

  1. Click the Add Data Add Data button on the Standard toolbar in ArcGlobe.
  2. Navigate to the disconnected cache folder and click the gmx.xml file gmx.xml file icon in the folder.
  3. The gmx.xml file only shows up in the Add data window if the layer file does not exist. If you had problems using the layer file of your cache, you will need to delete or remove it from your data cache folder
  4. Click Add.
  5. ArcGlobe will automatically generate a layer file for you. From now on you can use the layer file to consume your data cache.
