How to view KML node description data

Available with 3D Analyst license.

Nodes within KML data may contain additional information or metadata inside their Description tag. You can view the pop-up description of this information using the Identify or HTML Popup windows.

If the description information includes HTML content, this is displayed with images, links, and so on. Clicking HTML links inside the Identify or pop-up window by default opens that new page inside the current window. You can right-click the HTML link and click Open in New Window to see the content in a separate Internet browser window.

If the KML node does not have description information, then only the KML node name is displayed.

To view KML node description data, do the following.

1. Click the Identify tool or the HTML Popup tool on the Tools toolbar.
2. Click a KML node in the 3D view.
3. The contents of the Description tag is displayed in the Identify window or in a pop-up window.

Tip:

• Another way to bring up description information for a KML node in the Identify window is to right-click it in the KML Contents window and click Identify.
