The editing toolset allows you to apply bulk editing to all (or selected) features in a feature class. Sometimes data is captured or digitized with an inadequate precision or imported from other sources that introduce inaccuracies in the data. The tools in the Editing toolset are designed to help address data quality issues.

Many types of polygon features should have coincident boundaries with other features. Coincident boundaries may be important for features within a single polygon feature class, such as parcels, or between features in different feature classes, such as lakes and surrounding vegetation. A gap between the features exists when there is space between the boundaries of two or more features. | |

Cutbacks are high-angle turns that cause features to turn back toward themselves. These angles affect polyline and polygon features and can be caused during an editing session. For example, through a digitizing error, a river feature may have a short segment (less than one meter) that turns back toward itself and back in the original direction again. This tool removes unwanted cutbacks for polyline and polygon feature classes or layers. | |
