- Open the Network Dataset Properties dialog box.
- Click the Attributes tab.
The network dataset in the graphic below has four network attributes: Meters, Minutes, Oneway, and RoadClass.
- Click Add.
The Add New Attribute dialog box opens.
- Type a name for the new attribute and click the drop-down arrows to choose a usage type; units; data type; and, for restriction attributes, restriction type.
- Click OK.
The Add New Attribute dialog box closes and you are returned to the Attributes tab of the Network Dataset Properties dialog box.
- To rename a network attribute, click the name of the attribute in the attributes list and click Rename.
- Type the new name and press ENTER.
- To duplicate a network attribute, click the attribute name in the attributes list and click Duplicate.
The name of the new attribute is the name of the selected attribute with a suffix of (2). For example, if the Oneway attribute is duplicated, the name of the new attribute is Oneway(2). You can also select the new attribute and rename it. The new attribute has the same evaluators as the original attribute. Hierarchy attributes cannot be duplicated.
- To remove an attribute, click the name of the attribute in the attributes list and click Remove.
- To remove all network attributes, click Remove All.
- If you have a hierarchy attribute and intend on using a global turn delay evaluator, you need to specify how the various hierarchy levels are classified as primary, secondary, and local roads. Click the hierarchy attribute name in the attributes list to enable the Ranges button and click Ranges.
The Hierarchy Ranges dialog box opens.
- On the Hierarchy Ranges dialog box, click the up to or and higher arrow to group the hierarchy attribute values into three road classes.
- Click OK.
The Hierarchy Ranges dialog box closes and you are returned to the Attributes tab of the Network Dataset Properties dialog box.
- Click Evaluators to open the Evaluators dialog box and modify the evaluators associated with a selected attribute.
- Click OK.
The Evaluators dialog box closes.
- Click OK.
The Network Dataset Properties dialog box closes.
- In the Catalog window, right-click the network dataset and click Build.
The network must be rebuilt to reestablish the connectivity, recalculate affected attributes, and update the network elements.
