Export and save ArcGIS Pro maps (.mapx) as Job Type base maps

Available with Workflow Manager license.

ArcGIS Pro maps can be exported to an ArcGIS Workflow Manager database starting from the 10.5.1 release.

The map (.mapx) can be used as a base map for job types or used with mapping steps configured for ArcGIS Pro.

Note:

This functionality is available from ArcGIS Pro 2.0 onwards.

Caution:

If an ArcGIS Pro map (.mapx) is used with job types and steps configured for ArcGIS Desktop, it will not open and an error message will be displayed. The map (.mapx) cannot be viewed in the LOI tab or in the Job Results map view in ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Desktop.

You can use the ArcGIS Pro map (.mapx) in the following ways:

• As a base map for Job Type—The map will be opened when the LaunchArcMap step is executed. This is configured without an alternative MXD.
• LOI base map—The map will be opened as the job's LOI map when the DefineLOI step is executed.
• Alternative MXD in LaunchArcMap step—The map will be opened when the LaunchArcMap step is executed. This is configured with an alternative MXD.
• OpenMap step—The map will be opened from the ArcGIS Pro Project when the step is executed.

The .mapx document is added under the Maps folder in ArcGIS Workflow Manager Administrator, along with the other maps (.mxd).

Note:

Exported ArcGIS Pro maps cannot be edited or previewed in ArcMap. However, it can be copied to a folder on disk just like other maps (.mxd) from ArcGIS Workflow Manager Administrator.

All the layers in the map (.mapx) will be repointed. Layers in the map (.mapx) cannot be configured in a way that they don't repoint in the Job Type properties on the Maps tab.
