You can modify the symbology or label properties of layer files to meet your agency's requirements. Once the layer files are edited, the Create ZOC Diagram tool uses the modified layer files to symbolize and label the features in the diagram every time.
Once the layer files are modified, they should be distributed to the production team by your system administrator.
- Start ArcMap.
- If necessary, click Windows > Table Of Contents to open the Table Of Contents window.
- Add the layer files you want to modify to the Table Of Contents window.
The ZOC diagram layer files that can be modified include the following:
Layer file Description Zones of Confidence.lyr
Used to label M_QUAL area with the CATZOC assessment value
NaturalFeaturesA_SD
Used to symbolize LNDARE features
CATZOC
Used to symbolize the outlines of M_QUAL areas
These files are in the following installation locations:
- For 32-bit Windows operating systems—<Installation location>\Program Files\ArcGIS\MaritimeCharting\Desktop<version>\Charting\Cartography\Symbology
- For 64-bit Windows operating systems—<Installation location>\Program Files(x86)\ArcGIS\MaritimeCharting\Desktop<version>\Charting\Cartography\Symbology
- Change the fill color, outline color, and outline width of the NaturalFeaturesA-SD.lyr file as necessary to match your agency's specific requirements.
- Change the label class properties of the Zones of Confidence.lyr file as necessary.
- Change the line color and width properties of the CATZOC.lyr file.
- Right-click one of the layer files in the Table Of Contents window.
You can only save one file at a time.
- Click Save As Layer File.
- Browse to the location to save the layer file.
- Click Save.
- Overwrite the installed layer file with your edited file. You need administrative privileges to save files at the installation location.
The layer file or files are now modified and can be used with the Create ZOC Diagram tool.
