24082: Layer's symbol will be downgraded

  • Solution
  • More information

Your layer uses a symbol that is not supported when publishing feature services. The symbol will be downgraded to a simple symbol that is supported.

Solution

  • Do nothing. The server downgrades the symbol to a symbol that is supported.
  • Change the layer's symbology.
  • Alternatively, remove the layer if it is not needed.

More information

Feature services allow you to query features and also get the features' symbology. Clients can use this information to draw features with a symbology consistent with what is defined on the service.

The symbols returned by the feature service are based on the symbology of the layers in the ArcMap document (.mxd). Each symbol in each layer is referred to as a type. For example, a layer symbolized with a single symbol has one type. If a unique value renderer is used, a type for each unique value in the renderer returns.

Feature services support a subset of ArcMap renderers. These include the following:

  • Single symbol
  • Unique value (single field only; no groups)
  • Graduated colors
  • Graduated symbols

Renderers not supported include the following:

  • Unique value renderers based on multiple fields
  • Graduated colors with advanced settings (rotation, size, and symbol levels)
  • Graduated symbols within polygons
  • Multilayer symbols
  • Proportional symbols
  • Dot density
  • Charts
