Spatial requirements for dissolving features

Disponible con licencia de Production Mapping.

Within the selected area of interest, certain spatial conditions between the features must be met for the Production Dissolve tool to recognize valid polygon or line features. The conditions are described below.

  • Multipoints: Multipoint features have no specific spatial conditions and are merged based on field configuration table settings.
  • Polygons: All adjacent polygon features must be a single part and share at least one boundary or overlap, as long as they are of the same feature class type. It is not necessary that all of the individual polygon features within a selection set share a boundary or overlap with one another, as long as they are at least linked in a chain-like manner. In both cases, the result of the dissolve process is one single-part polygon feature that encompasses the former selection set's area.

  • Lines: All line features must be a single part and connect to one another by at least one of the two end points. Like polygons, you can have line features that link as long as they are connected at their end points and are of the same feature class type. The result is one continuous line feature.
