Introducing the Schematics advanced configuration tutorial

  • In this tutorial
Complejidad:
Avanzada
Requisitos de datos:
ArcGIS Tutorial Data for Desktop
Ruta de datos:
C:\ArcGIS\ArcTutor\Schematics\Schematics_Configuration
Objetivo:
Setting default symbology for a schematic diagram template
Configuring schematic rules that help define the final generated diagram and update results
Configuring what algorithms are available, initial settings, whether a user can override the settings, and how to automatically apply an algorithm when a user generates/updates a diagram
Configuring schematic attributes

This tutorial expands on the information you learned during the ArcGIS Schematics basic configuration tutorial. You do not need to have completed the Schematics basic configuration tutorial to be able to work through this tutorial. You will start over with a new geodatabase and a new schematic dataset. However, this topic skims these initial parts quickly. If you need more information, work through exercises 1 through 3 in the Schematics basic configuration tutorial.

In this tutorial

This tutorial will focus on four main concepts that add and enhance functionality to your schematics configuration:

  • Exercise 1: Setting default symbology and labeling for schematic diagrams—This exercise looks at what it takes to set default symbology and labeling for a schematic diagram template. It also shows how joins on schematic feature layers can be configured to get attributes from the associated GIS feature classes for symbology and labeling on the schematic features.
  • Exercise 2: Configuring schematic rules—Learn what it takes to configure rules that help define the final generated diagram and update results.
  • Exercise 3: Configuring schematic layout algorithms—You can learn how to configure what algorithms are available, initial settings, whether a user can override the settings, and how to automatically apply an algorithm when a user generates/updates a diagram.
  • Exercise 4: Configuring schematic attributes—Some other types of schematic attributes and their usefulness are discussed. Exercise 6 of the Schematics basic configuration tutorial touched on predefined attributes, but this section goes through the actual types of attributes and the other available settings.

Licencia:

To use this tutorial, you need to have ArcGIS Desktop installed—including the ArcGIS Schematics extension—and licensed for ArcGIS Desktop Desktop Standard or ArcGIS Desktop Desktop Advanced. You also need to have the tutorial data installed on a local or shared network drive on your system.
