An overview of the Editing toolset

The editing toolset allows you to apply bulk editing to all (or selected) features in a feature class. Sometimes data is captured or digitized with an inadequate precision or imported from other sources that introduce inaccuracies in the data. The tools in the Editing toolset are designed to help address data quality issues.

Tool	Description
Fill Gaps	Fills gaps between polygon features that participate in a topology where the coincident boundaries are evident.
Production Clip	This tool takes a geodatabase and clip geometry, as well as any clip override representations, present on the features.
Production Dissolve	Aggregates features based on specified attributes.
Remove Cutbacks	Cutbacks are high-angle turns that cause features to turn back toward themselves. These angles affect polyline and polygon features and can be caused during an editing session. For example, through a digitizing error, a river feature may have a short segment (less than one meter) that turns back toward itself and back in the original direction again. This tool removes unwanted cutbacks for polyline and polygon feature classes or layers.
Remove Self Intersections	This tool removes self-intersecting portions of features beyond their vertices of intersection in an input line or polygon feature class.
Repair Bad Geometry	Repairs geometry errors or generates a report with problems found for manual review.
