When editing a schematic dataset within Schematic Dataset Editor using the Project Tree view, the Data Sources main entry groups all the data sources for the schematic dataset. Each data source referenced under this main entry is displayed with a specific icon at its left that shows the status of the data source:
Data source icons meaning
- The SDE data sources that connect the same server/instance/database are regrouped under the same Schematic Dataset Editor tree subbranch represented by one of the following two icons: Server Valid or Server Invalid .
When the status for all the related data sources is Open or Unknown, the Server Valid icon is displayed. When the status of one or more related data sources is not correct, the tree subbranch displays the Server Invalid icon, .
- A data source that is opened correctly displays the following Open Status icon .
- A data source that could not be opened displays the Not Open Status icon . This often happens when the database name or location has changed or, for SDE data sources, when the service is stopped or the server shut down.
- A data source whose open status is unknown displays the following Unknown Status icon at its left . The Unknown Status icon means that Schematic Dataset Editor didn't try to open the related data source. To force Schematic Dataset Editor to try to open that data source and determine its status, you can use the Open Connection command.
