Defining the scratch workspace

The Scratch Workspace Location property defines the location where certain tool processes will store the essential files that get created during a process. For example, during the process of creating a product with the New Nautical Product wizard, the .mdf file for product instances gets created at your defined scratch workspace location. You need to ensure that you have read/write access to the selected file location.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Production > Production Properties.

The Production Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click Nautical Properties.
  4. Click the cell next to Scratch Workspace Location and click the ellipsis (...) button.

The Browse For Folder dialog box appears

  5. Navigate to the location that stores your scratch workspace.
  6. Click OK.

The selected file location is added to the property.

  7. Click OK.
