Importing hatches from another layer

The following steps outline how to import hatches from an existing route layer.

  1. In the ArcMap table of contents, right-click the layer you want to hatch and click Properties.
  2. Click the Hatches tab.
  3. Click Import.
  4. Click the Layer drop-down arrow and click the layer from which you want to import hatches.
  5. Alternatively, click the browse button Browse and navigate to the layer file (.lyr) from which you want to import hatches.
  6. Click OK on the Import Hatches dialog box.
  7. Click OK on the Layer Properties dialog box.
Tip:
As you zoom in and out on your map, the sizes of the hatches and their labels do not change. If you want the hatches and text to scale with the map, set a reference scale. Right-click the data frame and click Set Reference Scale.
