Esri Defense Mapping

For production of some hard-copy products, such as Joint Operations Graphics (JOGs) and Topographic Line Maps (TLMs), the Zurich family of fonts, and barcode fonts are required. These must be purchased from a third-party vendor.

Note:

If the appropriate fonts are not installed, the .mxd will use Arial fonts. The Zurich and barcode fonts should be installed before opening an .mxd that references the fonts.

License:

All fonts must be licensed in order to embed them within a map that will be exported from ArcMap.

Zurich fonts

Esri Defense Mapping supports many topographic map products that require the use of Zurich fonts. This requirement is a result of the individual map product specifications. The 12 required Zurich Bitstream (BT) OpenType and TrueType fonts (TTF) are commercially available from a variety of online type foundries. The individual fonts, often sold in packages based on font family, are listed in the table below.

Barcode fonts

Defense Mapping supports many topographic map products that require the use of a Code 39 barcode font. This requirement is the result of individual map product specifications that reference MIL-STD-2414A and ANSI/AIM BC1/1995.

Many Defense Mapping map documents use the Code39-Regular-E (TTF) barcode font, which is recommended by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
