Adding data from your Catalog

Available with 3D Analyst license.

When creating your 3D document, there are several ways you can add data, one of which is to drag and drop data from ArcCatalog into the 3D view.

This can also be achieved using the Catalog window inside ArcGlobe and ArcScene. You can drag and drop any data type including features, layers, and layer packages.

  1. Navigate to the desired workspace folder containing the data you want to add from the Catalog tree in ArcCatalog or the Catalog window.
  2. Add data to ArcGlobe or ArcScene by dragging datasets and layer files directly into the 3D view.
Note:
  • Although ArcScene will allow you to drag and drop data into the table of contents, ArcGlobe does not. Therefore, dragging and dropping into the 3D view is the recommended workflow for both applications.
  • The Catalog window inside ArcGlobe and ArcScene is used for many of the same functions as in ArcCatalog, including managing GIS data and adding it to your view. To learn more about the Catalog window, see What is the Catalog Window?
