Converting TIN surfaces to features

Available with 3D Analyst license.

Triangulated irregular network (TIN) components, such as nodes, edges, and triangles, can be converted to points, lines, and polygons. The components are converted into 3D feature classes that contain the converted components of the TIN. Use these 3D features for your visualization or analytic needs. The following ArcGIS 3D Analyst extension tools can be used to convert your TIN data.

  • To convert the interpolation zone of an input TIN surface into a new 3D polyline or 3D polygon feature class, use the TIN Domain tool.
  • To convert the edges of an input TIN to a line feature class, use the TIN Edge tool.
  • To convert the hard and soft breaklines of an input TIN to a new 3D polyline feature class, use the TIN Line tool.
  • To convert the nodes of a TIN to a point feature class, use the TIN Node tool.
  • To convert the TIN Tags to an output polygon feature class, use the TIN Polygon Tag tool.
  • To convert the TIN triangles to a output polygon feature class, use the TIN Triangle tool.
  • To convert slope values for each triangle of an input TIN into a polygon feature class, use the Surface Slope tool.
  • To convert aspect values for each triangle of an input TIN into a polygon feature class, use the Surface Aspect tool.
Note:

Shapefiles and/or geodatabase feature classes in personal, file, or enteprise geodatabases are the available output format types.
