ArcReaderControl applications can be used by anyone who has ArcReader installed. If your users do not have ArcReader, you can instruct them to install ArcReader, downloadable from https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcreader, or you can distribute ArcReader with your application.
Delivering ArcReaderControl applications
ArcGIS Desktop is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. See Migrate from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro for more information.
