Setting symbol size based on distance in ArcGlobe

Available with 3D Analyst license.

When you scale a 3D symbol it stays the same size in relation to the globe as you zoom in and out. This option is only enabled for point feature classes and only applies to unrasterized 3D symbols and layers with no extrusion.

To set symbol size based on the camera distance to the globe, do the following:

  1. In ArcGlobe, double-click the 3D symbols layer in the table of contents to open the Layer Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Globe Display tab.
  3. Check the Scale 3D symbols with distance box.
  4. Scale 3D symbols size based on distance.
  5. Click OK.
